How long does a 1998 Cadillac Catera engine last for?

1998 Cadillac Catera V6

Im thinking about buying a 1998 Cadillac Catera. It has 160,000 miles on it. The timing chain, and head gasket was changed at 155,000 miles. I just want to know how reliable these engines are? Also the price is 2300 dollars.

Good or BadHow long does a 1998 Cadillac Catera engine last for?I'd say thats a pretty good price if the car is in good condition. I would highly reccommend having the car checked out by a mechanic before buying. The reason for this is with all the cadillac's i've ever experienced, the engine runs forever, but other things (shocks, alternators, belts, etc...) tend to go bad at high mileage, just like any other car but a cadillac usually costs quite a bit more to repair. How long does a 1998 Cadillac Catera engine last for?over priced in my opinion. do the timing chain again on it just to make sure it was done right. no, kidding.....

they're pretty nice cars, if maintained. looks to me like this thing has had some major work done to it. do you know why the head gaskets were replaced, and where it was done at? do you know if there is any other oil leaks or coolant leaks? all very important questions before you make this rather large purchase. what do you currently drive? do you need a car this fancy, or could you get by with something with a little better gas mileage? How long does a 1998 Cadillac Catera engine last for?Cadillacs seem to last forever, they make a reliable engine, keep the oil changed with the proper grade at the proper intervals and my bet is you will get at leat 225,000 miles or better on that engine. How long does a 1998 Cadillac Catera engine last for?
Sure the engines are ok on those cars but its everything else that breaks around it. Those cars are not built very well at all. Its a good price but even minor repairs cost a ton on cateras
