What are some common problems i can expect out or a 1997 Cadillac Catera ?

thinking about buying a 97 cadillac catera with 84000 origional miles .... what kind of problems can i expect out of this car if any ??What are some common problems i can expect out or a 1997 Cadillac Catera ?I'd be checking the whole vehicle over starting with checking for any rad or rad hose etc leaks or engine oil leaks or power steering leaks or water pump leaks and oil pan leaks etc.

Common faults are bad pulleys or faulty or leaking compressors or power steering pump pulley etc leaks.I'd also check the ignition module for cracks or bulges or any discoloring in it's housing bec that's another common fault too.

One thing for sure when dealing with buying any used vehicle the basic visual checks should be performed for any leaks or obvious part failers but also all fluids should be checked for contamination or sever wear damages etc.

Stuff like engine mounts or transmission mounts are important to check for , and if the vehicle has or had any oil leaks it could cause the mounts to prematurely go.

My best advice would be asking around as you're doing , find out from the dealerships if any factory recall issues are out there for that vehicle , also have a reliable mechanic check the whole vehicle and spend the certification check-up money bec it's well worth the extra home work and cash in the long run.Sometimes it's a real bonus if you can find some small town family owned shop etc that knows the make of vehicle you want to buy well so you've extra expertise and advice.
