That's a big full size car, these paint shops get lazy doing these tiny japonda or hondayota tiny cars, and about have a cow when they see real american steel, my gosh it might actually take a gallon and a half of paint??? The key to doing a cheap but good paint job, is to not change the color. The reason for this is that areas like the doors, the door jambs, the trunk lid and the edges, and the long hood and the inner fenders all take extra time to tape off and prep. Painting the car the factory color saves a lot of prep time because the paint around the doors, hood and trunk were out of the sun, and will look great with new paint.. And its a good idea to pay a bit extra to have the taillights and the headlight bezels removed instead of taped around. the chrome the reason for this is if someone has to take them off later to fix a bulb, the paint chips around the edges, the bezel fits different and it looks like crap. by taking them off before painting it avoids this issue. any broken or missing trim will look worse after fresh paint. If you want them to prep the top and repaint it the same color as the car they will add the labor to the cost. Some cars can be painted with the bumpers on some cannot.
Just like car parts, there are cheap re manufactured parts, or factory new parts. there is cheap crappy paint, and there is some more expensive paint that will go on looking awesome and stay on there for a long time as long as the prep work is done right.
The good news for you is a white car is easy to paint, and it comes out looking absolutely fantastic.
picking a shop is important. The best paint job I ever got was dirt cheap, out of some guys garage the worst one I ever got was at a large expensive shop, Maaco did make it right, but only after I filed a small claims against the company. They settled out of court, but had to repaint the entire car, and I had to let them work it in on the slow days, so it was two more weeks of no car, but it did come back looking right and looking good.
so spend time at the shop you pick, go look at what is coming out of the paint booth in the back, I walk right up and look and talk to a worker if he is nearby. I had a classic suburban, I went to see about getting it painted at this shop I walked in the customer waiting area, and the rug was black with dirt in a trail from the front door to the desk. I knew they were going to want 2 or 3 grand, and as the gal was writing up the estimate, I went towards the back to the rest room, garbage was overflowing, with coffee cups and paper, restroom floor was a muddy mess, and had not been cleaned for at least a month, it looked bad dirty sink I was shocked, I went out to the shop, coffee cups everywhere coke cans shop guys digging around in a jumbled pile of crap, looking for something, I looked at a car rolling out of the booth with the 199 special they did not cover the rubber on the tires for gods sake, and it had metallic yellow all the way around. cleanable yes, but very time consuming lack of organization means poor management, they were losing money be lack of competent management, Im not paying three grand for that. ask around friends and family, and ask your trusted mechanic, he may have a guy who is in a small shop who does awesome work out of his home shop for way less money, you never know until you start asking questions. best of luck.there are actually different colors of white one popular one is called eggshell white and is more subdued. The one I like is arctic white this is a glaring white in the sun the car pops and looks great if that is the look you are going for
