1987 flletwood bougham cadillac how to tighten the steering wheel tilt wheel?

I need any information on how to tighten the tilt wheel on my 1987 cadillac fleetwood bougham? If anyone knows any information or where i can find information i would appreciate it id like to try and find a picture on how it comes apart or how to fix it

Next there is a lock ring holding down the wheel lock plate.

(theres a special tool for removing this and installing it.)



Once that is out, then there is a nut that presses a high tension spring down. If you tighten that nut, it will force more

tension into the tilt.



It's really something you should have a dealer though... I have worked on these many times and you will get cut up fingers and pull your hair out trying to get the lock ring back in place.1987 flletwood bougham cadillac how to tighten the steering wheel tilt wheel?remove the streering wheel. remove the lock ring and horn plate. remove the turn signal switches. when that is ALL out of your way, you will have to locate the three screws that hold the assembly to the hinge. you will see these through access hole, barely large enough for the torx driver to slide in. be very careful not to strip the heads, as they are hard to get to, and at a disadvantagous angle.
